While manufacturing takes place in the Far East, 100% quality control, testing, and calibration is performed at our European facility in Kerkrade (NL).
To strengthen our quality organization, we are looking for a Quality Control Lead Manager.
Role Overview
The Quality Control Lead Manager holds overall operational responsibility for quality control activities in Kerkrade.
This role combines deep technical, hands-on quality expertise with operational management responsibility.
You are the final technical authority for product quality decisions and act as the escalation point for complex quality issues. You lead the QC operation through a Team Lead and work closely with Sales, Product Management, Operations, and Management.
This is not a purely strategic or office-based management role – strong hands-on involvement and technical ownership are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Technical Responsibility
- Act as final technical authority for product approval, release, or rejection
- Oversee 100% quality control, testing, and calibration of products
- Analyze quality issues, identify root causes, and define corrective actions
- Translate customer and market requirements into clear quality standards
- Review and continuously improve QC procedures, test protocols, and specifications
- Ensure compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, health, and safety requirements (e.g. CE-related standards)
- Lead the QC operation and manage the Team Lead responsible for daily technician activities
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring to the QC team
- Set priorities, manage workloads, and handle escalations
- Ensure consistent application of quality standards across all QC activities
- Act as the main interface between QC, Sales, Management, and other internal departments
- Maintain accurate quality documentation and reports
- Use data, statistics, and failure analysis to drive continuous improvement
- Support feedback loops to product management and production partners
Must-have
- Proven experience in a production or manufacturing environment
- Strong hands-on background in quality control, testing, or technical inspection
- Experience in a senior or lead role with operational responsibility
- Strong analytical skills and solid understanding of data and statistical analysis
- High attention to detail combined with a structured and pragmatic working style
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to make clear technical decisions
- Experience in professional lighting, event technology, or comparable technical industries
- Experience leading or coordinating technical teams
- Knowledge of CE-related standards, compliance, and documentation
- Experience working with products manufactured in Asia
