Our client is a leading provider of innovative solutions in the fields of polyolefins, base chemicals and fertilizers

Role Purpose:
The Operations Planner is responsible for providing the required availability of products according market demand, asset requirements, availability prioritization and service levels at optimal cost by finetuning the production cycles in cooperation with the plant managers and applying appropriate planning tactics. One OP per location shall lead a small team of OPAs and is called OP-TL.

C1. Area of responsibility
Capacity planning and master scheduling
  • Optimum cycle: provides input to the bi-annual standard production cycle review, is responsible for the documentation of the standard production cycle and for cycle information maintenance in SAP APO
  • Master production schedule: builds & evaluates production plan scenarios, adjusts the production plan within the standard cycle and in deviation from it if required by utilising the availability prioritisation principles; contributes to production KPI monitoring
  • Test runs: provides input for test run approvals

Inventory management
  • Total stock & safety stock management: provides input on stock target calculations, responsible for balancing stock level and availability on grade level; grade level prioritisation and data entry in monthly SAAS round versus supply & APSA review
  • Safety stock monitoring: Responsible for safety stock calculation review and update in MRP; decides on temporary safety stock reduction up to 50% and provides input to temporary safety stock reduction for more than 50%;
  • Inventory quality: responsible for stock control on grade & profit centre level
  • Create selling awareness: pro-actively pushes sales via Demand Manager/ Demand

Planner to balance the inventory
Demand Control
  • Follows the updated demand situation (grid+pool+internal) daily, and adjusts the production plan to keep the stock in balance
  • Pooling: provides input to pool maintenance and decides whether the production should be run as planned if grid and pool are reduced
  • Back-order process: checks BOP lists several times per day, updates availability of the products & informs DP/CSR on delivery blocks due to unplanned shut-downs

Material master maintenance
  • Material master for finished goods: ensures that the content is current and takes corrective actions

  • Calculates the daily monomer requirements in cooperation with local monomer planner
  • May perform Key User role for the local planning teams
  • May support and contribute to project work
  • May act as back-up for other planning roles
  • Crossfunctional meetings (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually) such as logistics / CST / plant review / production specialist
  • Supports claim handling process

C2. People
  • The OP-TL leads a small team of Operation Planning Assistants including all relevant people management and leadership tasks from recruitment, motivation, performance management and potential deselection
  • Contributes to an effective team processes & communication flow
  • Gives input to & may participate in the Logistics People Day process

C3. Customer
  • Member of and active contributor to the plant specific Customer Service Teams
  • Fosters excellent customer orientation within the planning team

C4. Interfaces
  • Matrix leadership connection to Group Supply Planners; participation in monthly SASU step meetings
  • Close cooperation with Material Flow Planners, local Plant Managers and Operations Planners at base resin receiving locations, Demand Managers, Demand Planners, Monomer Planners
  • Member in various cross-functional teams: LPPT, CST, local logistics management meetings, plant morning meetings a.o.
  • Management of external interfaces eg. RDCs and compounding sub-contractors

Manages 100 – 500kt pa of material (1 - 2 profit centres)
Supports sales margin optimisation of ~500MEUR pa
Supports working capital control of ~50MEUR pa
Staff: 4-6 FTEs (depending on local organisation) for the OP-TL role

S1. Education
  • University education is preferred (bachelor), or at least five years solid experience in a commercial, business, operations or supply chain environment
  • Mastery of English at business level
  • Mastery of relevant IT tools - familiar with statistical tools and techniques

S2. Experience
  • Excellent knowledge of planning processes, tools & tactics
  • Basic knowledge of polymer technologies, technical plant capabilities, respective products and their applications
  • Good business acumen

S3. People
  • Recognised for being communicative & engaged in dialogue with relevant partners
  • Ability to balance interests and find alignment with different stakeholders in the planning process
